Todo EspañolWelcome to the website for St. Joseph's School Spanish classes. Spanish has only recently come to St. Joe's, but it has been in America since 1492 when Christopher Columbus arrived with Spanish soldiers and clerics. As the expedition moved across the continent, so did the Spanish language. In the West names of cities such as Sacramento (sacrament), Los Angeles (the angels), San Francisco (St. Francis), and states such as Montana (mountain) and Colorado (colored or reddish, the color of the Colorado River) are derived from the Spanish language. Today it is a language spoken by 300 million people in 20 countries. However, each country has its own distinct culture and unique geography. Thus the study of the Spanish language is truly a worldwide journey upon which we will embark together. ¡Vamos Amigos! Check out our new online quizzes in the Clase 6 area!
